SILVER CITY, Iowa (October 14, 2025) – Douglas Jensen of Silver City has officially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the United States Congress representing Iowa’s Fourth District. The campaign launched Friday at Silos Restaurant in Treynor, where Jensen spoke to a crowd of supporters about his vision for restoring accountability and function to Congress.

“The legislative branch is the first article of the constitution for a reason,” Jensen said. “Our Founders built a government of the people, by the people, and for the people – yet Congress today can’t even fulfill its most basic duty of passing a budget. That failure shows just how far Washington has drifted from serving the American people.”

Jensen said his campaign will focus on returning government to its core responsibilities – balancing budgets, working across differences, and rebuilding public trust. “The biggest problem in Washington is the blame game,” he said. “Too many are focused on politics instead of progress. We need more statesmen and fewer career politicians. It’s time to get Congress back to work.”

A decorated combat veteran, Jensen served multiple overseas deployments and continues to serve his country in a different way today – as a military spouse and father of two young children while his wife, Air Force Lt. Colonel Heidi Jensen, attends the elite Joint Advanced Warfighting School.

Jensen is also an executive in the commercial construction industry and has an extensive background in leadership and public policy. He holds multiple degrees and has completed coursework toward a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Public Administration, with a doctoral dissertation focused on leadership in Congress.

“I’m running because I believe Congress can work again – if we send people who are serious about solving problems,” Jensen said. “I look forward to meeting Iowans across the Fourth District, listening to their concerns, and earning their trust.”

Jensen, age 40, describes himself as a constitutional conservative who believes in limited government, fiscal responsibility, and family values. This is his first run for public office.
