Dr. Kate Looney Named Director at Columbia College-Lake of the Ozarks

COLUMBIA, Mo. – (April 20, 2023) – Columbia College Assistant Vice President of Columbia
College Global Brittaney Todd recently appointed Dr. Kate Looney as director of the college’s location at the Lake of the Ozarks. Looney, a native and long-time resident of Osage Beach, Missouri, is tasked in her new role with maintaining the location’s presence in the community while also overseeing its daily operations.

“We’re ecstatic to have Kate enter this new role at Columbia College-Lake of the Ozarks,” says Todd. “She brings a wealth of experience to the location and will play a vital role in growing the college’s presence in the community. Kate’s broad background in higher education will allow her to excel in every facet of her job.”

Looney possesses more than 18 years of experience in leadership and higher education. Her previous professional staff roles have included director of admissions, veterans center director and campus director and dean. Before entering academia, she was a finance offer in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as series commander and company commander in Japan and South Carolina. Looney began her teaching tenure in 2009 at the University of Arizona Global Campus as an associate faculty member and held that role for seven years. She also served as an adjunct faculty member for CC beginning in 2021.

“Promoting the transformative effect of higher education has been my life’s passion,” says Looney. “I’m honored to bring those social benefits to my own local community through Columbia College and this leadership position.”

Looney earned a Doctor of Business Administration in 2022 from Franklin University. She also achieved a Master of Business Administration in 2017 from Excelsior College, Master of Arts in Higher Education in 2011 from the University of Arizona Global Campus and Master of Science in International Relations in 2008 from Troy University. Additionally, Looney obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts in 2005 from the University of Missouri.
